Fuzzy Bee October Bookclub: City Of Girls
I just picked up my October book club read 'City of Girls' by Elizabeth Gilbert and I AM soooo excited to devour it. Based on other reviews, it is gonna be a fabulous read and it is also a New York Times Bestseller this autumn. I wanted to bring a MUST READ to the blog for some now very cold October nights.
The novel follows Vivian Morris, who arrives in a 1940's New York City, after being kicked out of Vassar and exiled by her parents. She comes to NYC with a suitcase and her sewing machine and quickly finds a job at a Manhattan theatre. The novel follows the ups and downs of theatre life, living in the city, and creating new friendships.
I'm only about halfway through the novel right now so NO SPOILERS. So far it has been the most well-written book I have read so far on my book club journey. The book is way more exciting than the cover shows. I love a hidden gem behind a meh cover.
It has so many rave reviews and I am so excited to finish it off and snuggle in with some blankets this month! Yes, it is always snuggle season here in Scotland!
This month I also decided to go with WHITE RUSSIANS! Yup, staying classy over here at Fuzzy Bee HQ. As it is truly autumn now, I decided to make a pumpkin white russian cocktail and it hit the spot! Below, I am showing you how to make this delicious sipper before you dive headfirst into the October read!
Psssst! I also love that you can alter the recipe and do whatever tickles your fancy! If you want to skip the pumpkin or add other flavors...do it!
- 3 ounces 2 shot glasses good quality vodka
- 3 ounces 2 shot glasses pumpkin spice creamer
- 1.5 ounces 1 shot glass Kahlua
- Whipped Cream and pumpkin pie spice for garnish
- RIM: 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice seasoning,1 teaspoon sugar or sparkling sugar, 3 tablespoons crushed graham crackers
Mix the ingredients for the rim together on a shallow plate or bowl. Dip the edge of two glasses in water and then dip into the graham mixture.
Press to coat. Set the two glasses aside.
Pour vodka, creamer, and Kahlua into a large cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake lightly until combined and cold.
Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spice.
