In November of 2017, I was really trying to figure out how to improve some health and happiness into 2018. I am a big fan of fighting my personal stress and finding new ways of getting creative juices flowing. I knew something from my old Boston life was missing: exercise and novels. The first one is boring and I should be doing that resolution or no resolution. That's when it hit me, I should be reading more books. Simple. Sorted. Shit...I can never find a good book to read!
I used to read every single day on my total three-hour commute in and out of Boston. Lots of novels, articles, word puzzles and more.
Over the past three years, I have just let things slip as I work from home and to be totally honest, I find looking for books (I mean GOOD BOOKS) a really shitty experience. Then I randomly read Big Little Lies while I was commuting back and forth to London last spring. I fell in love. I also wanted to know a bit more about the show and all the hoopla. It was then that I found out all about Reese Witherspoon and her media corporation and her involvement in producing women-led movies and books such as Wild and Big Little Lies. I was so into it and got on the Reese Witherspoon Book Club train. I am a changed woman y'all.
Reese Witherspoon runs her online book club via Facebook and Instagram and her media company Hello Sunshine. She vets and posts amazing books and content each month for her followers to read. In December, I thought I would give it a shot and purchased 'The Woman In Cabin 10'. Let's just say I got addicted and thus began my 2018 commitment of reading one book per month no matter what. I've been so successful that I thought you guys may want to follow along if you want. I am not following exactly the book she is each month as I am a murder mystery/historical fiction type person and also wanted to read some of the books from months past!
This March we are reading: The Alice Project
So please join us, we'll be posting back on the blog what we are reading each month! You can also follow along with Reese herself. Whoop, whoop!
